In May EU-Morocco Joint Parliamentary Committee came out, aiming to strengthen ties between the European Parliament and its Moroccan counterpart. There have been talks to grant Morocco 'advanced status', since October 2008, in a move supposed to provide the country with a special relationship with the European Union. Granting this status is still pending, however the newly created body has acknowledged that progress has been made on the back of democratization and regionalization of the Moroccan state.
