The Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Syrian leader Bashar Al-Assad held a meeting recently with a view to improving political relations and strengthening existing agreements on bilateral trade. Both leaders also asserted they also support any progress made in Middle East peace talks and a move toward regional stabilisation. Our short term political rating for Tunisia reflects its relatively strong position against security threats, and we believe increased corporation with its Arab neighbours will reassure investors entering the country.
