August 2010 | Risk SummaryWe believe that the continuous promotion and emphasis of the government's five year development plans which include increasing trade at home and abroad, raises significant political risks that President Ben Ali plans to amend the constitution again in 2014 to allow him to run for a six term in office. The opposition, while fragmented, have recently issued a petition in favour of an alternative presidential candidate. We take this to be a sign of simmering tensions between the executive and legislative branches of government, which raises internal stability risks.
