Opposition Showing Tentative Signs Of Unity

Uganda's opposition parties are showing tentative signs of unity ahead of 2011 elections, having selected four candidates to vie for the head of their coalition. The chosen candidate will run against sitting president Yoweri Museveni, in the hope that a united opposition will be able to unseat an increasingly unpopular leader. Accusations of official corruption and waste made by opposition leaders such as the Forum for Democratic Change's (FDC) Kizza Besigye have been echoed by a group of Western donors, who recently announced that they would be cutting budget support because of concerns over graft.
