On August 4 2010, 67% of Kenyans voted in favour of a new constitution which will replace the document drawn up at independence in 1963. The approval of a new constitution is a positive development for Kenya's efforts to rid itself of perceptions of political instability brought about by post election violence in early 2008. That said, we caution the acceptance of the new charter is only part of the process and the country faces several key challenges which risk reigniting tensions.
