Libya's risk profile is coming under increasing scrutiny, particularly as the recent upsurge in violent unrest across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) since the beginning of 2011 shifts attention towards the prospects for similar uprisings in states which have hitherto avoided large-scale protest activity. Sitting between Tunisia and Egypt, both of which have seen an unprecedented outburst in public anger in recent weeks, concerns that the government of Colonel Muammar Qadhafi is next in line to experience instability have certainly been increasing.
