We expect growth of 5.7% in 2006 (FY05-06). We also expect the budget deficit to widen to 6.5%, following a deficit of 5.7% in 2005. (Under the pre-2000 system of budget reporting, which excludes the revenues of the state pension funds, the deficit was 8.9% in 2005. This is the figure most commonly quoted by the local media.)
