Generally favourable market conditions should help real GDP growth tick-up slightly in 2004. The rural sector is finally getting back to normal after the severe drought in 2002, and although fisheries are struggling with a comparatively strong exchange rate, reflecting the performance of the rand, catches are reported as good, which will also help manufacturing, much of which is largely based on the processing of natural resources.
