Mali's main opposition group Front for Democracy and the Republic (FDR) has announced that it will accept the results of the 29 April 2007 presidential elections. The group had strongly rejected the election results, which saw President Amadou Toumani Touré re-elected for a second term in office with 71% of the vote. The FDR had argued that the elections were not free and fair, alleging that vote-buying and false ballots invalidated the results. However, international observers concluded that the polls were free and fair, despite some technical problems.
