A group convicted for the 2003 Casablanca bombings have had their sentences increased by an appeal court judge. Saad Housseini was jailed for 15 years by a Moroccan tribunal in February, but has seen his sentence increased to 20 years. Housseini was also questioned by a Spanish judge regarding his suspected involvement in the 2004 Madrid train bombings. Five others convicted alongside him in Morocco had their jail terms increased from eight to 10 years at a court of appeal. Morocco scores 66.7 in the security/external threats component of our short-term political risk rating.
